A Closer Look: Bill Baldwin, O.D., M.A.

John W. (Bill) Baldwin, O.D., M.A. Dr. Bill Baldwin graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1976. He was inducted into Gold Key Honor Society and was a member of Omega Delta Professional Fraternity. Dr. Baldwin attended Emory University and received his Bachelors Degree from Georgia State University. He also completed a year of graduate work in Biology. At Georgia State, Bill was inducted into Beta Beta Beta National Biology Honor Society. Following graduation from SCO, Dr. Baldwin served two years in the Army. He was stationed at Walter Reid Army Medical Center and served as the staff doctor in the eye clinic. While serving at WRAMC, he earned a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University. He was inducted into Chi Gamma Iota Honor Society.

After his military tour, Dr. Baldwin moved to Griffin, Georgia where he was in private practice. In 2003 he took a Wal-Mart contract at store #932 in Griffin. Dr. Baldwin is one of the leaders of the Atlanta Area Wal-Mart Doctor's Group, advisor for the Optometric Business Academy and an active speaker for Wal-Mart. He has been a speaker for Ciba, Vistacon, and Bausch and Lomb. Dr. Baldwin has participated in several contact lens pre-launches and investigational programs. He is a member of the AOA, GOA, and contact lens section of the AOA.

Dr. Baldwin has made eight mission trips with the Medical Benevolence Foundation to Leogane, Haiti. There he saw patients at hospital St. Croix. His community activities are: member of church, Rotary Club, and Boy Scouts. He also served as Scout Master, Cub Master, and currently serves on the Flint River Council Executive Board. Dr. Baldwin and his wife, Lou, have two sons, Chris and Jeff, and one daughter-in-law, Bridget.
